This never ending roll is vibrant in color and unique in taste.

A reminiscence of Flashing Lights and having a Good Time.”

The Sunset Blvd. Roll

*Thinking back…* I’ve moved away from my hometown of CA to learn how to make sushi. This roll reminds me of LA, the place you would find me on a random late night Rendezvous. Walking down the street, sun down…, you can just feel it in the air. Electric lights and the clutter of joyous commotion. A sense of crazyness that gives you a good feeling. This roll, picture at the top, reminds me of such crazyness with a good feel. Streching long on the plate like the street of Sunset Blvd., every part of it is individually unique but when united together, it is what makes the the street of Sunset Blvd. “The Street of Sunset Blvd” and the Sunset Blvd. Roll to be “The Sunset Blvd. Roll.

Sushi Video : How to make a Sunset Blvd. Roll recipe ( Shrimp Tempura Special )

Preparation:

  • Sushi Rice
  • 1/2 sheet of Nori
  • 2 Shrimp Tempura
  • 3 Asparagus
  • 1 Crab Stick
  • Tempura
  • Tobiko (Flying Fish Roe)
  • Wasabi Tobiko
  • Eel Sauce
  • Spicy Sauce

Creation:

  • Spread sushi rice on a 1/2 sheet of nori and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on the rice.
  • Roll the 2 shrimp tempura and 2 asparagus with the rice on the outside.
  • Make sure the shrimp tails are evenly distributed on both ends.
  • Cut into 8 pieces.
  • Grab a mixing bowl and spoon.
  • Chop 1 crab stick into 3 even pieces and break it apart with your fingers into the mixing bowl.
  • Chop up half of 1 asparagus into thin slices and add to the bowl.
  • Add a pinch of tobiko.
  • Add a palm full of tempura.
  • Add about 2 tablespoons of spicy sauce
  • Stir until the mixture is barely clumped together. Too much sauce will cause the tempura to lose its crunchiness.
  • Put the 8 piece roll onto a long plate and drizzle spicy sauce across the roll. The sauce is what will bond the crab/crunchy mixture.
  • Use your spoon to evenly distribute the mixture onto each piece.
  • Drizzle eel sauce across the roll.
  • Finish with small pinches of wasabi tobiko at the top of each piece for extra spiciness and great presentation.

This roll is great for parties and pot lucks because the preparation and the presentation is just too great not to share it with others.

Enjoy!
